Toni’s Grill Debuts at Montclair Jazz Festival

XX

Toni’s Grill, the new food truck for Toni’s Kitchen, debuted at the Montclair Jazz Festival in Downtown Montclair on Saturday, September 10. The new food truck, serving grilled classics like burgers, chicken and fries along with a choice of salads and wraps, is being launched to reach those who are unhoused and other food insecure neighbors for whom grab-n-go meals are the best solution.

The food for the Jazz Festival debut of Toni’s Grill were donated by a generous local family. The truck drew lots of interest from Festival attendees.

So why debut at the Jazz Festival? “We couldn’t think of a better way to formally introduce Toni’s Grill and let the community experience how we do food work,” said Project Leader and Toni’s Kitchen Advisory Committee member Rich Brown. “The Jazz Festival is a perfect place for everyone to participate and learn about the impactful work of Toni’s Kitchen.” Volunteers will be on hand to serve food and answer any questions about the program and to assist community members who may want to get involved.

A regular schedule for Toni’s Grill will be posted shortly on Toni’s Kitchen website along with information for guests to receive text messages of its daily route.

“This is a major new tool in our approach to ensuring appropriate food is available for food insecure populations,” said Executive Director, Anne Mernin.  “We will be reaching those without cooking and food storage facilities in an inviting, convenient and appropriate way.”
