Toni’s Kitchen Breaks New Ground on Expansion Plan

xx

On Saturday, June 19, Toni’s Kitchen and St. Luke's Church held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially kickoff the plan to add 5,000 square feet of much-needed space to help Toni's better serve the community. This major project will open up currently inaccessible space beneath the sanctuary building. Officials and dignitaries from the area attended the event.

During the pandemic, various spaces in Toni's Kitchen and St. Luke's were used to help store food and supplies for the increase in donations we received.  Our dining room was transformed into a warehouse.  We ‘borrowed’ significant space from St. Luke’s. Conference rooms are now used for food storage and the Assembly Hall upstairs is used for hot meal services.

Once the new space is ready, outdoor refrigeration units added during the pandemic will go away and new walk-in units will be installed inside the new space. There will be room for deliveries of food pallets, shelving units and work spaces. We can’t wait to use this new space to extend our food support programs and ensure that no one in our community worries about putting food on their table. A big, big thank you to the Silver Family Foundation/The Bravitas Group and everyone who donated to us during their matching grant in November, 2021. The Silver Match will go toward this major initiative.
