Summer Love is Underway at Toni's Kitchen

With summer approaching, Toni's Kitchen knows that local children who rely on subsidized school meals may lose access to consistent nutrition when the school year ends. Every day, we see neighbors–home nurses, grocery clerks, preschool teachers, and school bus drivers–struggling to make ends meet. Inflation, high housing costs, and medical bills make it difficult to afford groceries.

These individuals, who care for our children and aging parents and support our daily lives, often return home to empty cupboards for their families. During the summer months when familites have the additional cost of childcare and summer camps, these empty pantries loom larger and threaten the well-bring of children in our community.

We know the need will be greater this summer, and with your support, the Toni's Kitchen Summer Love Campaign seeks to bridge this gap. Already in 2025, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of families seeking food assistance, while our government-funded food supply has been significantly reduced. We expect these trends to contnue. However, we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure our neighbors in Montclair, Bloomfield, and West Orange have reliable access to nutritious food. Summer Love means:

• Kids enjoying tasty and nutritious meals at summer camps, libraries, and teen programs
• Children ordering healthy meals from our Toni's Grill food truck at local playgrounds
• Families selecting fresh produce and groceries at our Neighborhood Mobile Markets
• Parents equipped with summer essentials like sunscreen, swim diapers, and first-aid items
