September Book Discussion and Reading Event with “Poverty, By America” author Matthew Desmond
The Montclair Public Library and Partners For Health Foundation have announced an upcoming event featuring Matthew Desmond, who will discuss "Poverty, by America" with Andrea Elliott on Thursday, September 12 at 7 PM. The event will be held at the First Congregational Church in Montclair. You can register for this Open Book/Open Mind event, co-sponsored by the Library and Partners for Health, here. Early registration is recommended.
Toni's Kitchen is excited to learn of this event and the opportunity it presents for our community to explore this important work. A number of Toni's Kitchen staff and friends will be reading the book over the summer and plan to gather to discuss it in advance of the event. If you would like to read the book and join us, we are gathering on Sunday, September 8th 2-3:30 at the St Luke's Rectory, 73 So. Fullerton Ave. or Monday September 9th at 6-7:30 pm also at the rectory. Please let us know by signing up here if you would like to join one of these two discussion groups in advance of Matthew Desmond's visit.
Big thanks to Partners For Health Foundation and the Montclair Public Library for bringing Matthew Desmond to Montclair and presenting us with an opportunity to hear his conversation with Andrea Elliott on September 12th!
