Renovation at Toni’s Kitchen
Here at Toni’s Kitchen we are flush with excitement over our new bathroom/laundry renovation thanks to a generous grant from The Montclair Foundation. We had two pressing needs that were covered by the grant: our need to install a washer/dryer and a long-overdue restroom renovation. The laundry plumbing was installed in the early summer and handles our many aprons and towels that are laundered every day. Scheduling the bathroom do-over proved a bit more challenging as it is the sole facility in a space that is busy seven days a week. We were able to largely close down the kitchen during the lead-up to Labor Day and do take-away meals for our dining room guests while the facilities were redone. We are grateful for the patience and warm support shown by all involved!
The lavatory features new lighting, countertops, and flooring as well as wall tiles donated by Sergio Ferrari at Standard Tile Supply Co., Inc on Rt. 46 in Totowa. Our outstanding contractor and long-time Toni’s Kitchen volunteer, Lucas Platt, at Property Lab, was able to work within a very tight timetable to ensure the project caused minimal disruption to our guests and volunteers.
Says Toni’s Kitchen Director, Anne Mernin, “The new restroom is a quality of life improvement that will be used for many years to come. There aren’t many partners that we could turn to for this type of project and Toni’s Kitchen is deeply grateful to The Montclair Foundation.”
